Surgical Specialties
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Marquez has received advanced training in laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic colectomies, Nissen fundoplications and weight loss surgery procedures. She employs the latest techniques in the surgical treatment of breast diseases including stereotactice breast biopsy and sentinel node biopsy techniques.

Dr. Marquez performs gastric banding (Lap-Band and Realize Band),  gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, StomaphyX, and revision procedures for the treatment of chronic obesity.


Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Marquez graduated with highest honors in psychology and chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso. She received her Medical Degree from Baylor Medical School in Houston and was a surgical resident at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Marquez was an assistant professor in surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she managed the surgical oncology clinic. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Breast Disease, the Texas Medical Association. She is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Dr. Marquez also serves as a volunteer for the Breast Cancer Resource Center and has served on nunberous hospital committees, including serving as chairperson of the Department of Surgery at Round Rock Medical Center.


Biography
Dr. Marquez is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. She has lived in Austin since 1994. Dr. Marquez is married and has two children. For her, exercise is a way of life and includes running, cycling, and working out in the gym. She gets off the beaten path on horseback and cross-country motorcycles. She shares a love for the arts with her artist husband and playing the piano with the accompaniment of her children on violin and flute.
