Surgical Specialties
Dr. Sherrod is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in diseases and surgery of the breast, laparoscopic surgery, and abdominal and intestinal surgery. He also focuses on benign and malignant tumor surgery, including liver, pancreas, and thyroid. And he performs surgery on all types of hernias using the latest techniques.

Dr. Sherrod performs gastric banding (Lap-Band and Realize Band), gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and other procedures for the treatment of morbid obesity.

Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Sherrod received his MD degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He did his surgical residency at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. He has practiced general surgery in Austin since 1981. Dr. Sherrod is Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, Surgical Society of Austin, Texas Surgical Society, Southwestern Surgical Congress, and the American College of Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASBS).

Dr. Sherrod has served as the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery for Seton Medical Center Austin since the hospital began its weight loss surgery program.
